UPDATE! 05/01 – KNMI code orange – HU Library closes tonight at 5 p.m.

Update: January 5, 2026, 6:00 p.m.
The HU Library will also close its doors at 5:00 p.m. this coming Tuesday and Wednesday.

Due to heavy snowfall and slippery conditions, the KNMI has issued an orange alert for the province of Utrecht, among other areas. As a result, the HU Library has decided to close its doors at 5 p.m. on January 5. We advise you to work and study from home as much as possible. We will send a new message if there are any changes to this adjusted closing time.

Borrowing and returning items
Have you received an email informing you that you have a reservation(s) waiting for you? Please consider carefully whether it is necessary to travel to HU at this time. You always have seven days from the date of the first email to pick up your reservation(s).

Do you need to return materials? You will always receive two emails first, allowing you to renew online yourself. If this is not possible because a book is reserved, please contact the library. Email bibliotheek@hu.nl or call 08 8481 7125, and we will look at the options together.

The KNMI is also taking winter weather and slippery conditions into account for the rest of the week. The HU Library is monitoring the advice and will provide updates as soon as possible regarding the rest of the week.

HUB-Lab
The HUB-Lab will be open on a limited basis this week. For questions or advice, please email hublab@hu.nl.
